A blog-ish

"Sinultian" is a bisaya word meaning "utterance", "saying", or "speaking". The word came from the stem word "sulti" meaning "say" or "speak".

Sinultian is about applying modern data science and natural language processing (NLP) methods to uncover social media behaviors of the Filipino people around the world.

As a predominantly Catholic society, divorce is one of the politically and religiously charged topics in the Philippines. Philippines is one of two countries (the other is Vatican City) that divorce is not legal or not recognized. As Filipino legislators push for a divorce law, Filipinos expressed their opinions on Twitter on whether a divorce law should or should not be legalized in the Philippines. Using data mining and natural language processing, I uncovered a small sample of word usage and its context within the Tweets. This blog post explores the discourse happening while Philippine congress decides on a divorce bill.
